Carbon Offsets

Got a long trip to make and want it to be as environmentally friendly as possible? Carbon off-setting could be your answer. Carbon off-setting works by matching the amount of carbon (CO2) that your journey produces with the same amount of oxygen, thereby cancelling out the emissions of your journey. This off-setting is usually done by planting the amount of trees needed to produce the required amount of oxygen. There are companies that you can pay to do this for you and it’s a great way of reducing your negative impact on the environment.

How do I Carbon Offset?

There are a several things that you can do to help reduce the emissions of your journey:

Work out your emission contribution – This can be calculated using an online carbon calculator.
Think about using an alternative mode of transport to reduce your emissions, e.g. instead of flying could you take a boat or a train?
Buy carbon offset credits. If you can’t reduce your emissions then you can purchase credits which typically lead to donations to carbon offsetting projects.
