Visas
B. Documentation
Ok, here’s where you need to start hunting for all the right paperwork. We recommend that you get a folder setup to start pulling this together. The main paperworks you will need are:
- Work permit - to work in the country
- Entry visa – sometimes countries require this in addition to a work permit
- Passport – Check that it is accurate and in date (to enter most countries you must have at more than six months left before renewal on your current passport)
- Travel and employment Insurance – this is covered in more detail here >>
- Social Security / National Insurance number
- Proof of Educational and vocational qualifications
- Proof of employment
- Character, past employment and personal references (if asked for)
- Police and criminal records – if you have lived overseas or are applying for a position in a line of work with tight security regulations
- Driving license – if this is required for your job, check are you are permitted to drive in the country you wish to swap to
- Other country specific qualifications – for example you need a permit to work behind a fully licensed bar in Australia
